I come from Spain but my husband and I have been moving around quite a bit. We have lived in 5 different countries where we have always learnt a lot and met wonderful people.
Now we live in Lund (Sweden). We have been here since March 2013 and I am happy to say we have settled pretty well. Our two kids speak the language amazingly well and they have a lot of friends. When you have kids if they are happy, you are happy. We have quite a lot of fantastic people around us from all over the world and I am happy to say that thanks to them, it feels like home.
Let's talk about the baking part. Where did that come from? I was a teacher for primary kids in Spain and I loved my job. Watching them learn and grow was the most rewarding feeling anyone can experience at work. When we moved to France I couldn't start working right away. I had to learn the language, the system and I had to get used to so many things when you move to a different country.
A couple of years later my daughter arrived. That was a CHANGE!! I had no time anymore for anything. You know what I am talking about if you have children. I started cooking a lot more and I started trying some baking too. Then I discovered my passion. I started baking cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cakepops... non-stop. I learned how to fill in a cake, decorate cookies, how to use fondant or icing, tricks to make it look professional. I watched videos online, bought specialised books, I went crazy!
A few months ago I decided to take some courses. While we stayed in Madrid visiting family for Christmas I was lucky enough to get a place with Lourdes from JessicaCakes. The team is awesome and their work, highly impressive. They taught me a lot and talking to them I realised I had a new dream.
My dream is to open a little shop and atelier of creative baking. I know it is not going to be easy but it is a challenge I am really excited about. Until I make this dream come true I will be sharing with you my experience and my Delicakes.
